With Le Tigre recently announcing a North American tour and bands like the Linda Lindas and Big Joanie achieving mainstream success, it seems riot grrrl music is having a resurgence, much to the delight of its many fans. But us grrrls have been patiently waiting three years for Bikini Kill’s rescheduled tour to finally happen and it seems this April it will happen when they play the Fillmore Silver Spring for two nights. The Kathleen Hanna-helmed band have been around for more than 30 years and still bring down the house with their iconic feminist lyrics and radical attitude. Few bands remain increasingly relevant and timely for that long, but our current time continues to call for artists and anthems like those of Bikini Kill.
