The debut studio album, Nymph (2022), from Blane Muise, who goes by the stage name Shygirl, gave us a killer bloghouse club track—with an accordion hook we never knew we needed—in “Poison.” But it’s also full of seductive, electronic dance tracks as experimental as they are nostalgic for the early aughts. The South London rapper and singer flits from hyperpop and trap to R&B effortlessly or simply blends them together. Shygirl’s lyrics are rarely a mystery. She’s unapologetic in her quest for “Coochie (a bedtime story),” but equally honest about her struggles with satisfaction and her own, elusive nature—much like the nymphs of myth. Shygirl plays at 7 p.m. on April 12 at 9:30 Club. 930.com. $25.
