I’d order this combo from Rails Comedy any day of the week. This high-energy, fast-paced 60-minute monthly show is served up Sundays at the DC Comedy Loft. The complimentary glass of bubbly pairs exceptionally well with alternating courses of queer stand-up comedians and drag queens. The show’s producer and host, Gray West, “wanted to create a stage for queer people, a space to get up there and have fun, try new jokes, try old jokes, and have a supportive crowd.” Each Champagne, Comedy, and Drag Show is never the same, as West keeps crowds guessing with surprise acts and audience participation. Expect interruptions such as “uh oh, the show got too gay, so now it’s time for A STRAIGHT COMIC!” Or a game featuring a panel of three random audience members tasked with determining if certain nouns (yelled from the crowd, like “pineapple” or “toaster oven”) are queer or straight. Future shows promise to be “more inclusive than ever,” which seems to be Rails Comedy’s MO. Trade in your Sunday scaries for a hilarious lineup that feels more like a party, complete with rainbow beads adorning tables and chairs, elevating that perfect grungy comedy club vibe. Champagne, Comedy, and Drag Show starts at 8 p.m. on March 26 and April 23 at the DC Comedy Loft. railscomedy.com. $15–$20.
