Hip-hop duo Black Violin kicked off their 2023 tour—the Black Violin Experience—in late February on the heels of a 65th Grammy Awards nomination for Best Americana Performance for the song “The Message.” A cross-genre collaboration with Gospel Music Hall of Famers the Blind Boys of Alabama, the track calling for unity in the face of violence epitomizes Kev Marcus and Wil B’s willingness to push musical boundaries while delivering an uplifting message. Classically trained on the violin and viola respectively, the pair from Fort Lauderdale fuses those sounds with hip-hop, jazz, and funk beats. If you have an HBO Max subscription, you may have already heard the crescendo of their sweeping “One Step” in the streaming service’s promo celebrating Black stories for Black History Month. Black Violin play at 8 p.m. on March 11 at Warner Theatre. livenation.com. $73.50–$93.50.
