D.C. Watch’s Dorothy Brizill broke the news on the Kojo Nnamdi Show today that the Office of Campaign Finance plans to depose Council Chairman Kwame “Fully Loaded” Brown on Monday as part of its investigation into his 2008 re-election campaign.

Yesterday, OCF deposed Brown’s father and brother, Marshall and Che Brown, OCF spokesman Wesley Williams confirmed. OCF also deposed Charles Hawkins, whose Banner Consulting was paid $380,000 by Brown’s campaign—$240,000 of which promptly went to Che Brown’s sales-coaching firm.

An audit recently released by OCF, which is the basis for its current investigation of Brown’s campaign, says that Kwame and Che Brown were unable to produce bank records to account adequately for how that $240,000 was spent.

It’s worth noting that Marshall Brown is not mentioned once in the OCF audit and records show he was not paid directly by the 2008 campaign. But he has, according to multiple accounts, been very active on all three of his son’s past campaigns. Marshall Brown also showed up last week at the first OCF hearing after the audit came out, but was promptly sent away.

“It proved necessary to bring him in” based on the testimony of other witnesses, said Williams.

The only other witness to have been deposed before yesterday was Brown’s treasurer, Dawn Cromer, according to Williams.

Kwame Brown’s deposition is scheduled for 10 a.m. at the office of his attorney, Fred Cooke Jr.
