One event on May 30th, 2022 at 2:00 PM
This immersive music-theatre experience brings to life the long-forgotten stories of 19th century slaves, freed persons, and one of their abolitionist white allies buried in the Old Methodist, Mount Zion Methodist, and Female Union Band Society Cemeteries in Georgetown. Voices of Zion will run the first four Friday and Saturday evenings of May starting at 7 p.m., with a special final performance at 2 p.m. on Memorial Day, May 30.
If weather permits the immersive experience intended, Act I will start in the Mt. Zion-Female Union Band Cemeteries at the end of 27th St. off Q St. NW. Performers and audience will then proceed to Dumbarton United Methodist Church at 3133 Dumbarton St. NW for Act II. (Dumbarton will also serve as the venue for Act I on inclement evenings, or if Memorial Day afternoon proves rainy.)
