National Gallery Film Stream: Collodion: The Process of Preservation
March 17th, 2021 - March 23rd, 2021
FreePhotographer, sculptor, filmmaker, and former physician Eric Overton is passionate about photographing the American West, particularly in collodion wet plate—a laborious process being revived by such noted artists as Sally Mann. In his multilayered film essay, Overton draws parallels between what he sees as the vulnerability and endurance of western landscapes and the handcrafted approach to picture-making.
