A former prostitute clashes with her judgmental daughter in George Bernard Shaw’s Mrs. Warren’s Profession, first performed in 1902. The play caused great uproar at the time for its frank portrayal of the hypocrisies inherent in many of the criticisms lodged against sex workers.
