Lena Richard’s New Orleans Cook Book: A Groundbreaking Story of Innovation and Resilience

Chef Dee Lavigne cooks up classic creole while discussing the history of the iconic Lena Richard, a Black chef and entrepreneur from New Orleans. Richard self-published a cookbook in 1939. A year later, the book was republished as New Orleans Cook Book in 1940, the first Creole cookbook written by a Black author.
