Late D.C. soul singer Billy Stewart’s biggest pop hit, his unique take on George Gershwin’s “Summertime,” showcased what still makes him memorable—his distinctive vocal techniques (dramatic repeating “la, la, la”s, rolling “R’’s), and his doubled words.
