Eighties Mayhem at Black Cat

From ABC to Yaz, the 1980s were responsible for producing some of the most recognizable music to dance to. Come Oct. 30, you and your inner Stay Puft Marshmallow Man can relive all the decade had to offer at Black Cat’s Eighties Mayhem: Ghostbusters dance party. Hosted by DJ Steve EP‘s FYM Productions, well known for new wave and post-punk events like Cryfest—The Cure vs. The Smiths Dance Party, this Halloween event has become something of a yearly tradition in D.C. Last year’s event was virtual, making this year’s party a grand return. The event promises the “best 80s dance music” from DJ MissGuided, Killa K, and Steve EP himself. Partygoers better expect classic dance hits from bands like New Order, Depeche Mode, and The Cure as well as some Halloween-themed entries. So do as Danny Elfman instructs in “Dead Man’s Party:” “Everybody’s comin’, leave your body at the door!” Costumes are encouraged and proof of vaccination or the results of a negative COVID-19 test are required for entry. Advanced tickets are sold out, but check blackcatdc.com to see if more tickets become available. The dance party starts at 8 p.m. on Oct. 30 at Black Cat, 1811 14th St. NW. $20.
