MarketSW
Sometimes, it’s the little things that we look forward to most—like outdoor markets and live music following a particularly isolating pandemic winter. Now, after a year of virtual performance and online interaction, MarketSW returns in person for the 2021 summer season. Celebrating its fifth year, the outdoor night market invites folks to listen to live music, drink a beer, shop from local artisans, munch on yummy snacks, and partake in other activities every other Friday night through October. Located along the Southwest D.C. waterfront, the eclectic market has something for everyone to enjoy considering it’s both family and pet-friendly. The next MarketSW is slated for this Friday, July 9, when Alpha Dog Blues will bring electric Chicago blues and old-time acoustic blues and jazz to D.C. Enjoy the tunes while sipping on cocktails from the Sugar Rim Bar or a variety of beer from the beer garden. In addition, visitors are welcome to partake in the cigar lounge by the Stogie Co. Crepes at the Market will be serving up their specialties and other food vendors include food truck Strictly Chicken, Venezuelan cuisine from Na’guara con Sabor Venezolano, and donuts from Migues Magnificent Mini Donuts. Healthy4U will be blending smoothies (and juices), while Ana’s Market offers an array of plant-based milks and coconut waters. As for the market goods, more than 15 local vendors will be onsite selling unique clothing, accessories, crafts, art, jewelry, soaps, candles, and more. The market runs Fridays, July 9, July 23, Aug. 6, Aug. 20, Sept. 3, Sept. 17, Oct. 1, and Oct. 15, at The Lot SW, 4th and M streets SW; 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. marketswdc.com. Free.
