Ice Cream Jubilee’s Cream Puff Tower Class 

For people who enjoy spending time in the kitchen, the pandemic has been about cooking feats. Can you bake a boule? What’s it like to ferment kombucha? How do you pickle and preserve? Now that the holidays are here, you might be thinking about conquering a croquembouche—but that has a difficulty level of eight out of 10. Fortunately, Ice Cream Jubilee has an easier, edible alternative that’s just as fun to stack. On Dec. 15, the beloved local shop is hosting an online class on building ice cream cream puff (profiterole, if you’re fancy) towers. “All of Ice Cream Jubilee is personal,” says founder Victoria Lai. “I adore cream puffs. Now we have a wonderful pastry chef in our ice cream kitchen who could make them all. It’s easy for everyone, including myself, to make something that looks beautiful and is fun to put together without the overwhelming challenge of many steps.” She launched virtual classes after talking to fellow moms who were running out of ideas for how to entertain their little ones. But never fear—the class is for adults too. The toughest part is making the “magic chocolate sauce;” all you’ll need is a stove. Participants can choose to pick up kits containing two pints of ice cream of their choice, four cream puff shells, sprinkles, decorative flags, and chocolate sauce ingredients in person ($29) at any of Ice Cream Jubilee’s three locations. It’s free to join the class without a kit. If you miss out on registration, there will be another one on Dec. 29. The class begins at 5:30 p.m. on Dec. 15.
