The Shins, coming March 12 to the Constitution Hall stage, have a song on their new record called “Pam Berry,” in tribute to former City Paper staffer, indie-rock chanteuse, and all-around cool kid Pam Berry.

Berry, who was in a variety of local bands in the 1990s (Belmondo, Glo-Worm, Black Tambourine) is used to this sort of high-credibility name dropping: Belle and Sebastian’s “Chickfactor” is an ode to the fanzine Berry, who now lives in the UK, started publishing in 1992 with fellow ex-City Paperer Gail O’Hara.
