When it comes to the Fraternal Order of Police, there has been one simple rule when voicing the feelings of the rank-and-file: No matter what, always say morale is in the crapper. But at today’s D.C. Council Judiciary Committee oversight hearing, D.C. police union head Kristopher Baumann broke this longstanding tradition. He admitted morale is on the up and up.
“It’s been a sea change,” Baumann reported to At-Large Councilmember Phil Mendelson.
Baumann concluded with his remarks with a figurative bouquet to soon-to-be Police Chief Cathy Lanier. “We are very excited about having her on board,” he said.
Of course, the good vibes will inevitably change as soon as Lanier officially becomes the top cop. So enjoy the romance while it lasts.
