I’m sick of bands using projections and videos as part of their stage design. Whether the image looks like a screen saver or looks like a black-and-white movie (I still love you, Arcade Fire!), I find it distracting.

Wednesday night at the 9:30 Club, Feist used the best method I’ve seen in a long time: Six strings of colored lights draped above the stage, which alternated and flashed on occasion. (The photo is from her show in New York.) They were simple, fun, quirky, and only contributed to what was an amazing show. Bravo, Feist.
