Veteran New York Giants cornerback Sam Madison is suiting up for practice in preparation for the upcoming NFC Championship game against the Green Bay Packers. But according to Giants beat reporter Mike Garafolo, he’s not doing too much in practice. Just kinda standing around. He suffered some kind of strange abdominal/rib cage pull back in the final game of the season, a close matchup against the New England Patriots.

This is a big deal locally. Redskins fans have a thing about rooting for the NFC East if the Redskins are no longer represented in the playoffs, and so a lot of Washingtonians are concerned about Madison’s availability. This is a guy, after all, who’s been playing in defensive backfields for more than a decade and played some good ball against the Skins themselves. I’ll be sending more updates if things change.
