City Paper is not for tourists
In the 1960s, some mad French inventors threw together some spare airplane parts from WWII and came up with the Scopitone, a jukebox that played films with songs, the precursors of music videos. I saw some of the films a few years ago and they mostly involved beautiful women and big-nosed men doing the twist. I finally found an internet repository of Scopitone obsession. It takes a while to get the films to download, but they’re worth the frustration. This one involves a sexy mustache, a man in pigtails, and a manly can can.
