As previously noted in this space, Ward 8 Councilmember and Mayor-for-Life Marion S. Barry Jr. turns 72 today.

While the city’s political class already turned out to pay their respects (see below), there’s another pair of celebrations today: Rapper Prez-E-Dent will be performing this afternoon at Ward 8’s two high schools, Anacostia and Ballou. Also slated to make an appearance: actress Vivica A. Fox.
