The creative people over at Hammacher Schlemmer just keep on giving, and this time, they’ve really outdone themselves. We’re talking about HS’s inimitable Levitating Hover Scooter.
Scooter, you say? Yes, inventors for ages have tried to come up with the best way to solve the locomotion problem. People need to get from one place to another, and longstanding approaches—train, automobile, plane—will get you only so far. Dean Kamen thought that he’d revolutionize the entire American landscape with Ginger/Segway, but all he did was make certain lazy gearheads look like assholes on sidewalks around the country.
Tough to say what you’d look like if you bought Hammacher Schlemmer’s Levitating Hover Scooter, but the picture below offers perhaps a hint.
Though that looks like a sweet ride, there are a few drawbacks. One, it has to operate on ground “free of debris” and can handle only “minor inclines.” Which basically limits its use to indoor basketball courts. Not bad for $17,000!
