News flash! News flash!

Informed source tells LL that Marion Barry will be making an appearance at this afternoon’s council/media basketball showdown at the Verizon Center, marking his first extended public foray since kidney transplant surgery more than two weeks ago.

This info, source says, “straight from the man.” While he will be coaching, not playing, Barry reportedly made sure an uniform would be available.

UPDATE, 2:55 P.M.: Likely no-show: At-Large Councilmember Phil Mendelson, who is deep into a performance oversight hearing down at the John A. Wilson Building right now. Office of Police Complaints just started their testimony, and the Office of Administrative Hearings and the Office of the Attorney General are still on the agenda! LL is now biking down to Verizon Center.
