About an hour ahead of its scheduled delivery, the mayor’s office this morning sent out an advisory informing reporters that Adrian M. Fenty‘s State of the District address has been postponed to Thursday.
Now the mayor’s office postpones appearances fairly regularly, but to reschedule such a high-profile event—-Hizzoner’s statement of the prior year’s accomplishments and the coming year’s priorities ahead of the mayoral budget submission, due Friday—-is more than a little head-scratching.

UPDATE, 10:07 A.M.: Here’s a Twittered conspiracy theory from Examiner’s Michael Neibauer: “Now it conflicts with council’s DOES oversight hearing, ie summer jobs fiasco. Hmmm.”
UPDATE, 10:30 A.M.: Says spokesperson Mafara Hobson, “Turns out, Thursday is a better day,” adding, “Want council to be able to come.” (LL adds: Well, everyone but Vince Gray and Mary Cheh, anyway, who will be holding hearings then…)
