The Department of Energy has just launched a cool new website that maps service stations across the country – and here in the District – where you can fill’er up on biodiesel, ethanol and other “alternative fuels.”

The Google Maps page was created for policy wonks planning the cars of the future, so at least half of the D.C.-area sites are on military bases, inside government compounds, or otherwise not open to the public. But, there are several old-fashioned gas stations – Georgetown Chevron on Wisconsin, Quarters K CITGO in Arlington, the Tacoma Park Texaco, among others – that have branched out into alternative fuels. You can find the site here  and the press release explaining how it works here.
