The above shot was taken early yesterday at 7th and Kennedy Sts. NW, before the latest white wave hit. Local work crews take scads of abuse, and usually deserve it. But there was no dead weight in this bunch as they went from bus stop to bus stop.

I hadn’t seen a job site with a working-to-watching ratio this high in, well, ever. The picture doesn’t capture all the vigor, but all the bent-over bodies tell much of the tale. I stopped and stared in awe. I didn’t get their employer, but I assume they work for Metro. Kudos to the workers and whomever’s managing ’em. They were going at it like their jobs depended on it.

‘Course, all their work’s for naught now. But still. We’re gonna need more where this came from.
