Today, the Kwik-Stop in Petworth was more than a convenient store. It was a destination.
While most of Georgia Avenue stayed shut, the guys who run this mini-mart made their shelves of Little Debbies and their coolers of Hugs available to the stir-crazed masses. The Washington Post didn’t make it to my doorstep this morning, but Kwik-Stop had a stack.
There was no easy way to get there, but the store was crowded and everybody who made the trip while I was inside was happy to be somewhere but stuck at home. On a day like this, the sale of every scratch ticket had a whiff of community service.
Thanks, guys.
