Yesterday, Fourth District Metropolitan Police Department Officer Jennifer Green was charged with receiving stolen goods. Today, an MPD official speaking on condition of anonymity says three more officers from that district have been arrested for doing the same.

The officers are accused of buying items they believed to be stolen, according to the official. The three allegedly purchased supposedly stolen electronics, like iPhones and iPads, during an MPD sting. Chief Cathy Lanier is expected to comment on the arrests today. City Desk will have more later.

UPDATE: At a press conference, Lanier confirmed that three officers from the Fourth District have in fact been arrested for attempting to purchase stolen goods. They were netted by an Internal Affairs operation that, according to police sources, videotaped the officers doing the deed. “The 2-month-long internal affairs investigation stemmed from performance reviews, according to the chief,” reports WUSA 9 News. Though the news comes on the heels of Green’s arrest, Lanier said Green’s case isn’t related.
