A lawsuit filed by the father of a Sidwell Friends School kindergartner alleges the school “allowed its staff psychologist to have an open sexual relationship with the married mother of a then five-year-old Sidwell student he was treating.”

The complaint, Newmyer vs. Huntington and Sidwell Friends School, was received by the D.C. Civil Clerk’s office today—and it contains some rather salacious accusations. Arthur Newmyer—the plaintiff, father of the Sidwell student in question, and husband of the student’s mother—”seeks to recover $10 million in compensatory, punitive and special damages for the injuries suffered as a result of the Defendant’s tortious conduct.” According to the complaint, Sidwell’s psychologist James Huntington had an affair with Newmyer’s wife, whom he met through their daughter.

Associate head of Sidwell Friends Ellis Turner says, “We’re obviously disappointed that Mr. Newmyer chose this course. The complaint is completely without merit and we will be contesting vigorously.” (It wasn’t immediately clear from court records who Huntington’s lawyer was.)
