Organizers of the U.S. Army All-American Bowl today announced the nominees for NEXT YEAR’s prep all-star football game, scheduled for Saturday, January 7, 2012, in San Antonio.

Four DC high school underclassmen are among the 90 youngsters now on the roster.

Though the game is named for the Army, it’s not only the adults whose job it is to keep the war machine oiled who are shamelessly exploiting minors here. The press release announcing the all-star contest, which is a production of All American Games, a sports marketing company based in New Jersey, included the following paragraph:

National sponsors of the All-American Bowl include the U.S. Army, Rivals.com, Russell Athletic, San Antonio Convention & Visitors Bureau, Gatorade, Schutt Sports, NCSA, TapouT, Oakley, NewTek and Football University. National sponsors of the All-American Marching Band include MENC: The National Association for Music Education, Drum Corps International, Jupiter Band Instruments and DeMoulin Uniforms.

Reading that, it’s hard to believe all the crap Cam Newton got just because his family allegedly tried to make some money during the recruiting process.
