Yesterday, I mentioned that changes to several of the city’s bus lines included new timing for the 90, 92, and 93 buses. Starting last Sunday, rather than having specific arrival times, the buses shifted to a 5-7 minute interval schedule, in an effort to reduce “bunching.”

So how is that working out?

By my very unscientific observations while taking the 90 this morning, not very well. There was plenty of “bunching,” with multiple buses showing up at a stop at the same time,  in both directions. When I asked a driver why the new schedule wasn’t fixing the problem, he offered a one-word answer: “Traffic.”

Which, sure, would make sense…except it was 10:30 in the morning and the roads were clear.
