Hello readers! You may have noticed that your comments on City Desk blog posts have been held for moderation when you’ve never had a problem posting them before. This is temporary for most of you—-we’re just tweaking the system, and after your first approved post, you should have all commenting rights and privileges.
That is, unless you make it a habit to engage in any of the following:
- Racism (this includes accusing other people of being racist without any intent to have a real conversation about racism—-which, yes, is real.)
- Sexism
- E-thuggery
- Useless complaints (Don’t have anything to say besides “City Paper sucks” or “you’re/this post/this commenter is stupid”? Go share your insights with the Post or something.)
- Intangibly assholish behavior. A nebulous category, to be sure, but as your host here at City Desk, I’m not going to tolerate people smacking each other (or me) all the time. Any comment intended to stifle conversation or rile someone up is a waste of everyone’s time and will be moderated.
With that said, I’m excited to see more discussion happening here and I’ve no intention of preventing people from airing their complaints or having conversations. Just be cool, and we’ll be cool.
