WMATA Launches Sexual Harassment Campaign: Complain enough that you’re not being taken seriously and sometimes, someone starts to take you seriously. WMATA has officially announced it will be rolling out a new sexual harassment campaign that will help victims report incidents and give transit cops details to investigate. So far a new email address has received a number of complaints, which Metro spokesman Dan Stessel says transit police have been following up on. The more reporting, the better. +2

You Don’t Have To Go Home, And You Can Stay Here: Mayor Vince Gray wants bars to stay open until 3 a.m. on weeknights and 4 a.m. on weekends, in hopes it will bring in some revenue. While we support late night boozing options, even if this resolution gets adopted, we’d be shocked, shocked, to actually see it implemented anywhere but Adams Morgan. -1

Vigil For Trayvon Martin At Howard: Howard University students can be counted on to protest fairly regularly, and a vigil for slain Florida teen Trayvon Martin was no exception: “Students gathered around the flagpole on main campus and were given bags of skittles and bottles of Arizona Iced Tea to represent the items that Trayvon Martin had at the time of his death. They were told that they were there for prayer, support and to rally the student body around this issue. After a prayer, Amanda Patterson, senior biology major, sang the black national anthem ‘Lift Ev’ry Voice and Sing’ while everyone lifted their bags of skittles.” +2

Usher Launching Non-Profit In D.C.: The R&B singer is getting charitable. “Usher will launch a mentoring program for approximately 70 underprivileged D.C. students, who will each learn a skill to change their communities. Usher will also speak on a panel next Friday with former President Bill Clinton and Madeleine Albright at Clinton’s Global Initiative University 2012 meeting.” Just so long as he stays away from the recording studio! +2
