Good morning from Washington City Paper! It’s Tuesday! Go file your taxes already.

LEADING THE MORNING NEWS: Are you going to look for Space Shuttle Discovery as it heads through the area? [WTOP] The questions around Santae Tribble‘s murder conviction. [Post] Deacon sentenced for sexually assaulting a prostitute. [WJLA] Thies: It’s time to reconsider how D.C. is governed. [NBCWashington]

YOUR DAILY QUALITY-OF-LIFE MEASUREMENT: On Monday, City Paper‘s Needle ticked up five points. The bad news: There’s a B&B with a monthly rent of $24,000. The good news: Heat with no humidity? We’ll take it. Take a look here.

SIX CITY PAPER STORIES FROM THE LAST 72 HOURS TO HELP YOU MAKE SENSE OF YOUR DAY:

Is Lumen8 Anacostia’s Future?: Lydia DePillis writes, “What would it feel like, in other words, to be Washington’s Williamsburg? Obviously, there are a ton of differences between Anacostia and Brooklyn’sno-longer-affordable hipster haven. There isn’t a critical mass of artists west of the river being displaced by rising rents (those who are go to Arlington or Silver Spring). There aren’t blocks full of charismatic industrial buildings just waiting to be turned into lofts. The city can’t catalyze real estate investment simply by rezoning the whole area for mixed-use development.”

Ian MacKaye Is 50: As of yesterday.

More Pizza, This Time On H Street NE: No slices, though for those of us wandering out of bars. Co-owner Michael Lastoria tells Y&H via email that the place will be firing up made-to-order gourmet pizzas using an assembly line-style of ordering. “Customers will move along a service line and customize their pizza according to flavor preference and diet,” Lastoria writes. “We have been working on our product for two years now and been sourcing local ingredients since last July.  The pizza will be unique in its preparation and shape – one size fits all – so we won’t be selling by the slice.”

Watch: Phil Ade’s “Gone”: The latest from the prolific Maryland rapper.

Reeves Center Watch: Transit Center Out, D.C. Center In?: DePillis is keeping tabs on the empty space at the Reeves Center on U Street NW. “Several interested parties have toured the spot, and one will be quite familiar to U Street regulars: The D.C. Center, which currently leases space in the JBG-owned building a block away that’s slated for redevelopment. The LGBT community organization has long been in search of a permanent home, having moved into their current location in summer 2010, after JBG moved forward with plans to build at their previous location on 14th Street. They’ve got one more year left on their lease, and no alternative next steps. ‘This is our goal this year, to win this space,’ says Nick McCoy, chair of the relocation committee.”

Equal Pay Day In D.C.: Yesterday was Equal Pay Day. Even in a city where the pay gap is small, the gulf remains wide between women of color and white men.
