Hall of Famer Art Monk Sues NFL: Football has not been having a good year. After the suicides of former NFL players Dave Duerson and Junior Seau, ‘Skins wide receiver Art Monk is suing the league for “short-term memory loss, headaches and speech difficulties” that he claims are products of years of concussions. And Monk is only one of 63 plaintiffs. All told, 143 former Redskins players are involved in various similar suits against the NFL. Anything that forces a closer look at the link between football and brain damage is good news to us. +4

High Marks: Banneker and Coolidge are the top-ranked schools in D.C. according to U.S. News & World Report! But a closer look at the numbers reveals that they may not be as promising as they seem: Depending on student make up, some schools may have been weighted differently, and U.S. News didn’t actually consider charter schools. -1
