If you’re looking for white people, you should head to the D.C. ZIP code that includes Shaw, Bloomingdale, and LeDroit Park. It leads the city in new white residents from 2000 and 2010, according toa list of the nation’s 25 fastest-whitening ZIP codesvia Mike DeBonis.

Non-Hispanic white people represented 5.6 of residents in the 20001 ZIP code, which also encompasses Pleasant Plains and Truxton Circle, in 2001. But by 2010, according to new Census data, non-Hispanic white people made up 32.8 percent of the residents, a 27.2 point increase. The 20001 ZIP code had the 10th largest percentage increase in white residents in the country.

The 20010 ZIP code around Columbia Heights and 20005 by Logan Circle also made the list, at the 14th- and 19th-fastest whitening, respectively. Non-Hispanic white residents make up 38.5 percent of the District’s entire population.

America’s fastest-whitening zip code is further south, however. That would be a ZIP code in Columbia, S.C., that showed a 47.1 percent increase in white people from 2000 to 2010.

(Correction: Due to a reporting error, this post originally said 20001 saw a 27.2 percent increase in white people, instead of a 27.2 point increase.)
