A regular summary of irregular news and notes from neighborhood blogs and email lists around the District.

By Tomorrow: “If you own a Black Pontiac…please move your car from our private spot. We are exhausted right now, but tomorrow you will be ticketed and towed,” writes a member of the McLean Gardens email list. “Your actions are thoughtless. We just returned home after a long trip with an infant, ready to unload our car, only to find our private parking spot (which we purchased for thousands of dollars) occupied by your vehicle. If we were not exhausted, we would have it ticketed and towed immediately.”

Helpful, Once: “I have an injured bird on my front lawn-broken wing?- does anyone have a suggestion?” asks a member of the Chevy Chase email list. One member suggests, “Take it to 2nd chance wildlife. It’s a bit of a drive, but well worth the experience. Take kids there to see the “patients” in rehab!” while another says, “Check with the Zoo on Connecticut Avenue NW, across from 3000. Once, they were very helpful with a similar situation.”

Rapidly Rabid: “My dog daisy and another dog were having a sniff and great @ the corner of 17th and Taylor tonight at approximately 11:45pm, when a squirrel appeared on the side walk furiously chasing its tail. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a squirrel, at night, come up to two dogs…so the other dog owner and I took off fearing that it may be rabid,” reports a member of the Crestwood email list. “The squirrel wasn’t aggressive (just weird) and the Internet says rabid squirrels are pretty rare, so it may have just be injured or otherwise sick. You may want to keep an eye out.”

Howl at the Moon: “I saw a coyote this weekend on the corner of 39th and Rodman by Rock Creek Park. I just thought all of you with cats or small dogs might want to know,” warns a member of the Cleveland Park email list.
