Washington sleaze pyramid FUR Nightclub has been marked for death since some Swedes with NoMa apartment dreams bought it in January. In a blog post Wednesday, Fur’s operators acknowledged that the club will close in late 2014 or early 2015. In explaining that, they displayed a remarkable, Charles Darnay-like sense of self-sacrifice: FUR must die so that Washington can live. “Like all entertainment venues before us that have etched a moment in time, Fur Nightclub will too be closing its doors in the winter of 2014/2015 to make way for the continued growth of our city,” the blog post reads.

The post continues in a similar heroic/tragic vein. Management promises “an epic adventure” in the club’s remaining two years.

Obviously this will mean big changes at FUR, but according to the website, tonight’s FUR slumber party—-no cover for girls in pajamas before midnight—-is still on.
