Update: ARLnow reports that the FBI has blocked off a portion of the East Falls Church Metro parking lot, while NBC Washington reports that two gun magazines and materials related to Chick-fil-A were in the suspect’s backpack.
Update: In a press conference filmed by Talking Points Memo, an FBI spokeswoman said that the security guard was shot in the arm. No charges have been filed against the suspect, who is in custody. The shooting is being investigated jointly by the FBI and MPD.
Update: Metropolitan Police Department Chief Cathy Lanier says the shooting suspect didn’t get past the security guard, the Examiner reports. “As far as I’m concerned, the security officer here is a hero,” Lanier says.

A security guard at the Family Research Council’s office at 8th and G streets NW was shot and injured this morning. According to police, the shooting suspect was also injured.
In a statement, FRC president Tony Perkins said the conservative group was concerned about the security guard.
“The police are investigating this incident,” Perkins said. “Our first concern is with our colleague who was shot today. Our concern is for him and his family.”
