A regular summary of irregular news and notes from neighborhood blogs and email lists around the District.
Of Cats and Men: On the LeDroit Park email list, a member writes, “Does your cat fly into murderous rages when mice are present? Is it sweetie-pie safe around small children, but a mighty killer of mice?” She continues, “Yeah, I really need to borrow your cat. Seriously. Terminex is useless. The mice are immune to glue traps and laugh at the peanut butter offerings I leave in snap traps. Cat is the answer. May I borrow your cat? Please. Contact me today, I’ll be right over. Mouse droppings in the kitchen is bad; mouse droppings where my children play and sleep…completely unacceptable.”
Chevy Chase, ISO: Members of the Chevy Chase email list have recently asked for insight on the following topics: “Need to clean Turkish carpet,” “looking for math tutor,” “need to borrow a wheelchair for a day,” “seeking dude ranch vacation,” “need ornamental tree pruning,” “alternative medicine,” “have used books to donate.”
How About That Adams Morgan Hotel?: In a thread titled “Business concept for Adams Morgan?” a member sends a link to a Telegraph piece about a newly opened cat cafe in Vienna, Austria, adding, “The old Blockbusters, maybe?” Another member writes, “Who knows – Old Towne Alexandria has a Doggy Happy Hour at one of the hotels with a courtyard.”
Off Your Back: “There was a stash of new shirts, backpack, etc left on E. Capital found early this morning on my way to mass. Contacted police and they came and picked up the goods,” writes a member of the New Hill East email list. “Hope some info helps catch the neighborhood robbers,” she concludes.
