Sean Delontay Branch, the 24-year-old accused of murdering a puppy in Trinidad in June by dropping a brick on its head—-an incident that exposed D.C.’s sensationalism deficit—-pleaded guilty Monday to the crime. NBC 4 reports:

The morning of June 29, a puppy named King Tut was left sleeping behind a convenience store on Mt. Olivet Road in Northeast Washington.

U.S. Attorney Ronald Machen says Branch was angry with the owner of the dog that morning, and while the pet was unattended, the 24-year-old crushed King Tut with more than 90 pounds of concrete.

Branch could receive as many as five years in prison, according to NBC. Sad story for everyone involved, but after seeing the mind-bogglingly graphic pictures of the dog (seriously, don’t look), it’s good to see that justice is being served.
