The Washington Nationals have already won their division. The Baltimore Orioles have already clinched a playoff berth. And people are already starting to talk about how wild it would be if the two teams met in the World Series this year.

While we’re reluctant to jinx either club by speculating too much about that sort of thing before the regular season even ends, here is an official declaration of how Washington City Paper would refer to such an event. A Baltimore-D.C. matchup would not be the Beltway Series; for one, you can’t actually get from one city to the other just by sticking to either I-495 or I-695.

Instead, should the Nats and the O’s meet in the postseason, we’ll call it the MARC Series.

Except during any games played on the weekend. Then it’ll just be the Baltimore-Washington Parkway Series.
