The saga of Gallaudet University Chief Diversity Officer Dr. Angela McCaskill—-put on administrative leave last week after her signature to put Maryland’s gay marriage law on a ballot—-continues, with Gallaudet president T. Alan Hurwitz releasing a statement this morning saying that the school wants McCaskill back.
“Gallaudet University would like to work with its Chief Diversity Officer, Dr. Angela McCaskill, to enable her to return to the community from her administrative leave,” Hurwitz says in the press release from the school.
But McCaskill will have to do some sort of unspecified work with the school, according to Hurwitz. “[McCaskill returning] will require that she and the University community work together to respond to the concerns that have been raised,” he says.
Why is Hurwitz issuing this pretty bland statement now? It could be because McCaskill, who has hired “Warrior Lawyer” J. Wyndal Gordon, is expected to speak in Annapolis this afternoon about the controversy.
Meanwhile, McCaskill’s pastor has come out with a more drastic statement, claiming that McCaskill’s handling by the school “is a warning of what is to come” if the gay marriage law is upheld.
