Talk about winning the evening. The first polls won’t close for another few hours, but according to Politico Executive Editor Jim VandeHei, the election’s already over. Politico won it all.
“It’s only 3:30 and we can declare one clear winner: POLITICO.com,” Vandehei wrote in an email to staffers this afternoon.
Politico’s site has already scored 11 million page views today, according to Vandehei, with the best expected tonight.
VandeHei’s full memo, after the jump
It’s only 3:30 and we can declare one clear winner: POLITICO.com. Danielle Jones, Ryan Mannion and our web gurus wanted to pass along that we have officially set a new record for page views in a single day, with 11 million and counting. We expect the strongest surge won’t even begin until 6, so the final numbers will probably be staggering. We are seeing a huge surge in search traffic from Google, and a record numbers of readers coming directly to the site. We will keep you posted on traffic throughout the evening.
Congrats and thanks to all of you.
