Mumbo sauce, D.C.’s celebrated condiment, has inspired plenty of bizarre creations, with french fries, chicken wings, and even pizza being doused in the stuff. But now mumbo sauce is the muse of something that’s decidedly inedible: a shoe.

Via the D.C. Sports Bog comes the news that Nike is launching basketball player Kevin Durant’s new sneaker, the KD V “DMV,” a shoe inspired by mumbo sauce. One of its colors, bright crimson, is supposedly influenced by the popular reddish-orange goo, whose color is a created by blending barbecue and sweet-and-sour sauces plus other ingredients.

While Durant now plays for the Oklahoma City Thunder, he’s originally from the Washington area. “My fav color of the KDV’s are the DC/Seat Pleasant Mumbo sauce joints,” Durant tweeted.

The new kicks are expected to cost $115 when they go on sale Saturday, which is significantly pricier than an order of jumbo wings and mumbo sauce from Yum’s Carry-Out. Just make sure not to drip any of that precious sauce while wearing them.
