Oh, Metro: If it’s not one thing, it’s another. The latest with the-often troubled transit agency: another train derailment, first reported by Unsuck D.C. Metro.
Unlike a July derailment in Prince George’s County blamed on heat, this train went off the rails at a rail yard at New Carrollton on Saturday. There were no passengers on the train and no injuries, according to Metro spokesman Dan Stessel.
Three cars on the slow-moving train were damaged, according to Stessel. While the damage assessment hasn’t been finished, Stessel disputed Unsuck D.C. Metro’s claim that the damage bill is around $7 million.
In other Metro news, the transit agency has a new video explaining inauguration Metro use that is genuinely straightforward and helpful.
