http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EGJ1Y-FCUfI Gallon-smashing, the sticky trend popularized by Vienna teens, is a worldwide sensation. Would-be smashers as far away as New Jersey are being charged with gallon-smashing related crimes, and grocery stores are taking precautions to discourage more of it. Even the French love breaking milk jugs. But now the prank has caught the attention of police right where it started: Northern Virginia.
The Fairfax County Police Department is investigating multiples instances of gallon-smashing. It’s not clear exactly what needs to be investigated, though, since the teens who popularized it (Omar, Zayd and Faysal Khatib) have admitted that it was them, and apologized for it. I’ve contacted the Fairfax police for more information on the investigation, and will update if they respond.
