See Ya, DOMA: The Supreme Court struck down part of the Defense of Marriage Act, thereby extending federal benefits to married same-sex couples. The scene outside the courthouse was celebratory, and presumably the scene at many bars tonight will be even more festive. Among the people who will be drinking especially hard: The journalists who managed to publish stories less than 11 minutes after the Supreme Court released the ruling. +8

Alas: This is as good a time as any to remind you that in Virginia, gay marriage is still banned. -3

Payday: The D.C. Council passed a contentious bill that will require a small number of large retailers—-chiefly, Walmart—-to pay a living wage of $12.50 an hour. +1

Fire Hazard: According to the Washington Post newsroom union, in contract negotiations the paper is pushing to allow managers to fire employees more easily. -2
