There will be extra U.S. Park Police patrolling Rock Creek Park tonight as police investigate the fatal stabbing of a man whose body was found at Beach Drive and Joyce Road NW over the holiday weekend.
Police said at a press conference this afternoon, however, that they believe the area is safe to the public.
At this point, there’s not much information about the homicide. Police identified the victim, who was found just before 8 p.m. on Monday, through fingerprints, but are waiting to release his name to the public pending next-of-kin notification. Based on his attire, the victim is not believed to have been a jogger in the park.
Police are offering $25,000 to anyone who provides information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the perpetrator.
