Last week, locals were pretty excited about the prospect of Japanese retailer UNIQLO coming to downtown’s new CityCenterDC development after Prince of Petworth pointed out a company job posting looking for a store manager in D.C.

The retailer, which sells moderately priced, casual clothing, currently has seven stores in the United States and is set to have 17 by the end of the year.

But the job posting seems far from a definitive sign that a D.C. store is in the works. As some PoPville commentators pointed out, once you click on the actual job posting, it says the job is in San Francisco or New York and they are looking for someone with the flexibility to “relocate to various locations during a 12-month period.”

A UNIQLO spokeswoman tells City Desk via email the company doesn’t comment on “rumors regarding locations for new store openings,” and that it will announce its new openings for spring sometime in January.
