The Metropolitan Public Department is asking the public to be on the lookout for a crafty thief who purchases small items in stores with $100 bills. When the clerk hands him the change, he says that it’s the wrong amount, confuses the clerk, and leaves with both the $100 bill and the change.

Police says the man, in his sixties, is wanted in connection with three different robberies in October, all in Northwest D.C.

His latest robbery occurred on Tuesday in a store on the 1600 block of 17th Street NW.

Officials released this picture of the suspect and ask anyone with information to call police at (202) 727-9099.
