The Metropolitan Police Department found a missing teenager Wednesday inside the home of a D.C. police officer, where according to an affidavit sex trafficking of a minor and production of child pornography had occured. The affidavit was submitted on Wednesday to obtain a warrant to search the officer’s entire Southeast apartment, including his computer hard drive, cellphone, and email records.
The routine investigation into a missing 16-year-old led investigators to the officer’s apartment in Douglass near Suitland Parkway, and when they entered his unit they found burning marijuana and two females in the bedroom, one of which was the missing teen. The other female was 18.
The missing teen told investigators that the suspect had “made a ‘date’ for her with an unidentified older white male.”
“The suspect [the police officer] advised the complainant [the 16-year-old] that the ‘date’ was for her to engage in sexual acts with the older white male, who would pay her eighty dollars. The complainant was to provide the suspect with twenty dollars after the completion of the ‘date.’ The suspect told the complainant that her nickname for prostitution purposes was going to be ‘Juicy.'”
The teen also said the police officer took naked photos of her with his Galaxy cell phone, according to the affidavit.
The document says other illegal activities occurred in the officer’s apartment. The teen told police she had met six other women in the apartment. The women talked to the teen about how much they made prostituting for the cop and said the officer had advertised on Backpage.com, according to the affidavit.
“During the execution of the emergency search warrant members observed a white plastic container with a large number of condoms inside,” the affidavit states. “An additional plastic bag was found to also have a large number of condoms. Further a number of female high heeled shoes were also located in the residence. Additionally, officers saw a mirror with the female names on it. Those names, according to the complainant, were the names of the other females who had engaged in prostitution.”
News of the incident comes just days after another D.C. police officer was charged in a child pornography case, in which he reportedly photographed a teen girl while investigating a complaint that she had run away from home.
MPD Chief Cathy Lanier released a statement about the two incidents this afternoon and said “the misguided actions of a few in no way reflect on the professionalism, dedication, and integrity of the Department.
“The Department is very concerned about the recent allegations of egregious conduct by two officers. We recognize that the actions of individual officers reflect on the entire Department. To uncover any potential malfeasance by officers, the Department regularly conducts audits and investigations of their conduct and behavior, both when on-duty and off-duty,” Lanier wrote.
